April 13, 2016 - Silky and harmonious, as Petits Monts should be. However, this tastes very advanced for its age, no primary fruit left whatsoever and instead it has a leathery character very reminiscent of tempranillo. If this were a 20-year-old Rioja I'd be a fan but it's not an encouraging profile for a Vosne-Romanee 2 or 3 years past release.

4/14/16, 4:13 PM - If you're familiar with how red Burgundies taste at this age, then you know that they can be all over the place and can be very deceiving for how they will taste at age 15 or 20. As such, what is the point of assigning a score and calling the wine "advanced for its age"? As for noting no primary fruit left, that of course is not uncommon for Burgundies going through a closed phase, but you seem to think it is definitive. On what basis?
