December 26, 2007 - Opened my first 2004 Le Cadeau during XMas dinner. Still have yet to try the Rocheaux and Diversite. The Cote Est is made by Josh Bergstrom and his team.

Decanted an hour before serving. The color on this wine surprised me... I guess I was expecting a brighter color. It wasn't bricked, although the color seemed a ruddy garnet red. Nonetheless, it had a wonderful aroma of bright cherries, smoke, wood, and dark chocolate. Flavors of chocolate covered cherries, currants, minerals, & earth. Tannins were present, but not obtrusive. Just a bit of heat on the finish. All in all, this is a very well balanced, well made wine, that could probably benefit from a little more time in the cellar. This isn't the 2002, but quite tasty nonetheless!
