  May 24, 2016 - The color on this is ridiculously young, pale gold. I’ve seen darker 3-year old wines. The nose is delicate but it is more mature than the color shows. There are some flowers, lemon zest, tropical fruits and honeycomb. Smells a little waxy. On the palate it is not very plump but still full bodied, acid is medium plus. Time has tamed it. There is some minerality to it but not GC complexity. Enjoyable bottle that tastes amazingly young and fresh 18 years after harvest.
  
  William Fevre has 16% of the total Les Clos appellation, with southern exposure, full sunlight, and parcels situated on the heights of the appellation. From Chalky clay, marl, and marly limestone from the Kimmeridgian era (the upper Jurassic geological period, 160-140 million years ago). Located on either side of the Serein River. Stony soil. Very white, dense and deep clay, mixed with a conglomerate of fossils and stones. The compressed limestone at a depth of 80 cm contributes aromas and spice to this Grand Cru in its youth.
