August 5, 2016 - 1993 Burgundy dinner. Very ripe, sappy and candied to the point where it slightly detracted from complexity and tertiary aromas and flavors. Great length and density.

8/6/16, 12:53 PM - This is a wine I know very well from multiple bottles of impeccable provenance, and your description doesn't sound at all like it. What was the provenance of your bottle?

8/6/16, 7:31 PM - I don't think there were provenance issues because of the source, no real oddities and 2 other tasters made similar comments. They did a multi-vintage retrospective recently and preferred the nuances expressed by the off-vintages (1988) to the supposed stars (1990/1993/etc). I wasn't there, so these are just my own impressions... you own a terrific wine and I'd love to drink more of it, but the sensational opulence and completeness of the 1993 Leroy RSV and Richebourg put everything else we drank that evening in worse comparative light, including the DRC wines, Vogue Musigny, Rousseau Chambertin, etc.
