  August 31, 2016 - Really great expression of Napa in an elegant style. The fruit is perfectly ripe, generous, fresh and shows good purity. The tannins are round, soft and polished. The finish displays fleshy, ripe, juicy, sweet blackberry, boysenberry, dark chocolate and earthy notes. Everything is working here. This is drinking quite well today.

  8/31/16, 12:47 PM - Jeff - I believe Roberta's Reserve is 100% Merlot, which is why your note includes tones of dark chocolate. By the way, I am a big fan of your tasting notes. - Ken

  You are generous with scoring wine, but not this particular one. This '10 Roberta's Reserve was given 98+ by Tanzer. Stephen Tanzer is known to be very strict on high scores and had never given a triple digit score to any wine before. I suspect this "Merlot thing" explains difference between 95 and 98+. Thanks for all your tasting notes.
