September 16, 2016 - 66x Parker 100-Pointers from Bordeaux 1947-2010 tasted blind (Switzerland): Tasted blind. Dark garnet. Clearly corked. Fortunately the only corked bottle of this entire tasting. I had this wine several times in the last 5 years and it consistently showed in the 97-100 range. So if you still own a bottle and don’t want to sell it to the Chinese, go for it! Group score: NR, Group rank: NR/64

12/16/16, 10:10 AM - Thank you for the great tasting notes and the wonderful tasting stories. It is amazing to me that during this tasting you only encountered ONE corked bottle. My experience with Bordeaux, admittedly much less experience than you have, is that in most situations you would expect 10% plus to be corked. For instance, at a recent Commanderie dinner here in North Carolina, of the 21 bottles we opened, three were corked. Two of those were '90 d'Yquem, very unfortunately. That has been the normal experience for me in my beginning Bordeaux journey. What percentage do you regularly encounter of corked bottles?

12/16/16, 2:48 PM - You are right. This was most unusual. Usually at our tastings with this collector we are also in the range of 5-8% corked bottles and 2-3% bottles with other faults, such as premox and all.
