September 18, 2016 - I think I may be back on the Zinfandel wagon. Previously I felt these were too sweet or jammy (not to be confused with the fruit bombs that Napa produces in its Cabs).
I let this decant about 1 hour and I have to say, it was a beautiful wine. Very velvety fruit that is a little sweet, but there is a tannic/alcohol bite that kicks it away. There is also a nice leathery hue that makes this very chewy on the palate. I drank a bottle over the course of a lazy Sunday on its own. Food pairing that come to mind would be a fatty rack of lamb, New York Strip, or a nice Tri-Tip. This wine will age well, probably has another 10 years.2 people found this helpful 1,082 views
