October 1, 2016 - Decanted at 3pm and drunk over the next 6 hours. Medium translucent ruby color with a bit of brick on the rim. Smokey bacon, cherry, slight vanilla and anise on the nose. Light to medium weight on the palate, Burgundy-ish. Palate is rich and chewy with the cherry, rose petals, anise, leather and an earthy, smokey finish. No hint of oxidation in this bottle which has been in my cellar only for the last 5 years or so. Great with a wood fire grilled Prime Strip Steak! This seems to be at peak with totally resolved tannins and a velvety feel though there is somewhat of an astringent element on the mid-palate. Certainly time to drink up. Probably best when we drank the last drops. Thanks to MNIG for the "heads up" that it's time to drink this one up...spot on!

10/2/16, 3:59 PM - I just discovered a few odd translations in my notes, thanks to auto-correction. Anyhow, it's good to read that you enjoyed your bottle. Cheers!
