July 16, 2016 - This was a wonderful surprise...The nose reminds me a bit like standing in the middle of an antique store. Surrounded by aged woods and old leather. On the palate there's a vibrancy that seems largely due to the laser-like acidity that seems to beam a path down the palate then part like the wake of a boat, constantly expanding beyond the notes of citrus. This was an amazing wine...and should continue to age effortlessly for another 5-10 years with good storage, maybe longer. I don't have much experience with Rivesaltes.

Has this retained enough sweetness to serve as a dessert wine? -

10/19/16, 4:43 AM - It has...but there's so much acidity that it strikes me as having some similarities to Madeira. I'll say this much, I've been on a budget...and I worked extra overtime (about 16 hours) to find enough money to buy two bottles. If you want a good experience with aged wine...this would be a good place to start. I might pair it with something simple like plain cheesecake or creme brûlée. If you're in Mass, I'd seek out Doug Schulman at D & L on Riverstreet in Newton. He's a wealth of knowledge and is the one wine buyer I trust blindly. 781-894-1907
