October 14, 2016 - Cellared since release. Significant sediment at this point. Popped and poured. Deep, dark garnet with the tell-tale brownish rim consistent with the style. Wonderful aromas of fresh, black cherries, blackberries and baking spices just a touch of funk. Charming, really. No trace of the petrol describes in a previous TN. Tart cherries, blackberries, black tea. Tannins are still firm at this stage. Quite a masculine version of Sangiovese Grosso, IMHO. This bottle paired well with our Icelandic lamb and asparagus. I still think the best is yet to come for this wine despite the 15% ABV. The structure seems to the be there; plenty of nice acid too. DRINK with patience and food or HOLD.

10/15/16, 5:08 AM - Outstanding note, very helpful. Perfectly captures how I remember this wine from a year and a half ago. Based on this, I'll certainly be opening another bottle soon. Cheers!
