January 26, 2017 - Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah
    Drunk over 5 days.
Clear, youthful pale lemon-golden color. I must admit I really love Müllens wines when tasted at the winery, but when drunk at home I often don’t feel comfortable with them. They often lack the complexity and depth I admired at the winery.
Same with this one from his top vineyard. It was quite thin and boring after opening. But after 3 days it started to open up and it was really great on day 5: Clean, medium youthful-developing nose with lots of grapefruit, citrus fruits, nettles, gooseberry and all infused with slate. Very good!
It is off-dry, not too sweet, medium acidity, medium- alcohol (11%) and body. Wonderful complex and medium intense aromas of herbs, nettles, white and yellow stone fruits. Very elegant, laser sharp and focused with vibrant tension that continues until the long finish. Perfect example of a Mosel Riesling Kabinett. It still starts its drinking window and will continue to develop for several more years. Very good PQR.
