  November 16, 2016 - Blindverkostung mit Freunden. #6 10 Jahre später, ein weiterer großer Jahrgang für den Bin 389, wobei der 96er gerne als Tanninmonster bezeichnet wurde. In der Nase erkenne ich sofort Aromen von Tabak, Leder, Brombeeren und Kirsche. Mit etwas Belüftung kommen noch Noten von Pflaumen, Maulbeeren, Zeder, Graphit und Süßholz hinzu. Am Gaumen dann mit saftiger Würze und feinkörnigen, jedoch auch adstringierenden Tanninen. Kräftiger Körper und frische Säure. Zu den dunklen Früchten kommen Noten von Kräutern, etwas Mokka, Süßholz, Leder und eine gewisse Tabakigkeit. 14 Vol-%. Sehr langer Abgang. Der 96er macht nach wie vor keine halben Sachen. Mächtiger, etwas rustikaler und muskulöser als der 86er. 93-94
  
  Blind tasting with friends. #6 10 years after the 86, this was another great vintage for the Bin 389, whereas the 96 has always been titled as rather unapproachable due to its monstrous tannins. On the nose I instantly catch aromas of tobacco, leather, blackberries and cherries. After some additional aeration I also get notes of plums, mulberries, cedar, graphite and licorice. Fine-grained, yet also astringent tannins, vivid acidity, a full body and juicy spices on the palate. Notes of dark fruits are accompanied by spices, some mocha, licorice, leather and a somewhat tobaccoish component. 14% abv. Very long finish. The 96 is still rather down-the-line, being more muscular, powerful and rustic-style than the 86. 93-94
