  March 2, 2017 - Engel and Truchot dinner at Jade Palace. Flight 2 with the Truchot Charmes 2001 and Engel GE 1998. Deep red, with a much more familiar Engel character! Intense and rich nose of white pepper, scorched earth, cigar box, chocolate, wild strawberries, blueberries and cherry cola. On the palate, good acidity and very opulent and rich. Lots of red and blue fruit, along with smoke, truffle, spice, smoked meat and bonfire. Definitely close to the Truchot in terms of drinking pleasure, but very different in style. This was a really marvelous wine and finally, an Engel which was in near perfect condition on the night.
