  March 17, 2017 - I used to buy Chateauneuf-du-Pape in the 90's until prices started to get way out of hand. Luckily, there are wines like this terrific GSM blend from Jaffurs, which I think is a real sleeper in their lineup. Aromatically, this is super complex, with ethereal notes of blueberry, strawberry, bacon, black licorice, celery, Bazooka bubblegum...I could hover over the nose forever. On the palate, it is not a blockbuster but rather elegant with refined tannins. I don't think it will be a long ager, but I could see it going 5-6 years. This is emerging as one of my "desert island wines." (94+)
