February 22, 2008 - I prefer Vintage Ports over Tawny but as a Tawny goes this is the best I've ever had. The blends of various years give this wine a huge level of complexity that has both fresh youthfulness coupled with all of the character you'd expect form a 40 year Tawny. Characterized by lots of Honey, prune, and just enough Oak to not overshadow the flavor. IMO Penfolds can be hit or miss as a company on its products but this is a Grand Slam offering all the way around.
