May 31, 2017 - Purple fruit - blueberry, currants, and dark raspberry. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth (medium body). Nice purity and vibrant flavors of wild berries. Fairly long finish. Decanted for one hour and drank over another three. Improved a little with time but at a nice drinking point after the decant. 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.

5/31/17, 9:06 AM - Interesting notes Badmonkey, I have four of this on the wine rack and the price was excellent. It's been a while since I have tried Juslyn Cabs. I know they are nice wines that tend to be fruit forward more elegant in style. I should probably wait before I try it, your thoughts?

5/31/17, 12:19 PM - Yack Man, my father was a member of Juslyn for a while - although I believe the 2010 vintage was his last as a member. My first serious wine tasting was at Perry's home where we tasted the 2006, 2007, and 2008 vintages of the Juslyn cab and Perry's Blend. Perry and his wife were great hosts. I've always enjoyed their wines but the price for their cab has gotten a little pricey in my opinion - especially the vineyard direct price. I picked-up some of this vintage at a nice price in the secondary market.

In my opinion, the 2013 vintage is drinking well with a decent decant. As you stated, it does have that typical fruit forward/elegant profile of Juslyn but there's a nice vibrance, purity, and flavors. Ideally I believe it could use a little more time for the fruit to hopefully fill-out a little more - maybe another 6 to 12 months. I believe likely in line with Parker's 94 rating with a little more time. However, I don't believe you'll be disappointed with how it is showing now.

8/19/17, 6:07 PM - I'm having the '11 tonight. After 2 hrs slow Oxit tasted like a red Burgandy, but one more hour of slow Ox and pouring through a Venturi made this wine pop. Unfortunately for Perry this wines can be found at really good prices in the secondary market and auctions. I've had every vintage of this wine since 2010 and it's always very good and elegant.

Maybe I'll pop the '13 soon.

8/19/17, 7:33 PM - amauryc1, I've always enjoyed their wines; however, as you touched upon, it's been pretty easy to find Juslyn wines at pretty good prices in the secondary market. Wineaccess in particular tends to have an offering at least once a year. Take care.
