July 7, 2017 - Wow. This guy has completely evolved. I drank my last bottle Oct/14, and it was as everyone has pretty much described -> bright fruit and earth with a pleasant grip. I've been holding my last bottle, enamored with a baby vertical, but finding myself increasingly worried about holding the 2012 too long. I broke down and opened it tonight....W.T.F. just happened?!? This ain't Trousseau, this is Barbaresco in its sweet spot. Fully resolved, powdery tannins. Tar, dusty cherry and all the usual Nebbiolo goodness, but with juuuust a hint of that Trousseau funk in the background. This is what makes wine so fun. It is a total buzz kill to hold a wine too long, find it over the hill upon opening after waiting for years (I just did this with a 2010 Cotat Rose), but then you get one like this. I don't have experience with aged Trousseau, so maybe this is not unusual, I dunno, but a fun experience.
