July 20, 2017 - YY tasting in Sydney - July 2017: Wow! This is epic. The WOTN from a tasting of the whole YY range. This is Grand Cru ethereal. I was shocked at how approachable it is at such a young age. A clear step up in class from the estate pinot noir, which is no slouch in its own right. The Carrodus has a drive and commanding presence, yet has an overarching elegance about it that screams class. Serious length. But equally serious price tag.

7/20/17, 5:42 AM - sounds nice, but $200 for a single bottle of Pinot Noir? I wonder if the good Dr. is turning over in his grave; seems egregious

7/20/17, 5:52 AM - $250 in fact. You could try and argue that they're a victim of their own success, maybe. But for mine it's a crazy price point for an AU pinot. In saying that, YY may argue it's a fair price compared to some PC and GCs, which is an equally arguable position, given the quality on show in the '15. And I'd probably agree in that context. So the proof is really in the pudding as to how many AU fans will shell out for it. I will be watching with interest!

7/20/17, 6:00 AM - cheers, Jimmy, and I agree, an argument can be made, and marketing machines being what they are, they will sell every last bottle at full ride. everyone always wants what they can't have. notwithstanding any of this, it's nice to see his work continuing successfully.
from where I sit, his bottles sold for too little for ages, i.e. the majority of my bottles drank in the past 20 years, my remark was the same "I didn't pay enough "; not often that that happens.

7/20/17, 6:16 AM - Cheers to that, you're dead right. And price aside, this was/is an epic wine that would not be out of place alongside many GCs. Power to Sarah Crowe for continuing the Carrodus legacy.
