August 20, 2017 - Similar in color to the Thivin; more black fruits than red here on the nose.

Still somewhat tart on the palate, but this presents much better on opening than the Thivin just did. Neither of these wines strike me as old per se, but they are both more attenuated today than they were in their youth. Off these two wines, this is one vintage where the acidity may last longer than the fruit.

8/23/17, 3:38 PM - Another glass of this three days after I originally opened the bottle. Surprisingly enough, I think I like the wine better tonight than I did on opening. While the fruit is still tart, it has really smoothed out on the palate.

Is it possible that the wine is still too young? Sounds crazy to say that about a Beaujolais, but maybe the vintage was unusually stern at release?
