March 24, 2008 - Decanted for 5 hours. On opening the bottle the air was full of dark fruit aromas! Very dark in the glass - almost inky black. Nose of vanilla, pepper, blackcurrant, spices and chocolate with a touch of alcohol. Quite thick on the palate - medium tannins but smooth sweet black fruits coming through and a good hint of the alcohol. A good long finish but the oak is coming through quite strong. I prefer the 2005 but willing to give this more time in the bottle to see how it develops. Looks like other people have the same opinion that they prefer the 2005.
