September 29, 2017 - Opened this and let decant for about an hour. Despite being ~8 years old, and merlot based, the 2009 Juel is a punch to the palate. Deep ruby in color with a heavy hue of tobacco/dark berry fruit on the nose. On initial taste it had a smokiness and tannic base. Medium acidity, the wine progressed to show a really silky finish. Last sip was honestly the best... wine is for sure drinking in its prime now, but would recommend at least a 2-3 hour decant... or if you can trust yourself, drink it over 3 hours and see how it evolves.
