October 13, 2017 - Big nose displaying a lot of menthol, pencil shavings, wet stone, forest floor and a bit of blueberry. Very earthy. Broad shouldered and dense on the pallet with a lot of BDX character, with savory notes of herbs, tobacco and smoked meat. Fairly good concentration and decent length on the finish. Certainly made in a more old world style than most coming out of Napa. Can use at least a few more years to come together.

Im a Bordeaux fan but most Napa BDX types tend to be heavy on the acid but there are a few that have mastered the balance between fruit, acid earthy/savory tones. Dennis Malbec was very good at this. If HL has a similar style to Blankiet, Dominus..then it may be worth it for me.
