November 19, 2017 - Was hoping this was going to as good a value as the previous vintages. Was bitter and sour upon opening. Double decanted to try and get something going. An hour in, got a little baking spice on the nose. Touch of fruit on the palate. After 2.5 hours the nose muted and the finish was quick. A little tannin emerged.
I would say this was flawed, but I received consistent notes from someone else recently. Not sure if the fruit source changed on this or not, but this may be the biggest disappointment of the year for me. I don't expect a whole lot for $15, but the previous vintages were so shockingly good! This doesn't even perform well in the "budget" category. Disappointed I even purchased two bottles.
