January 14, 2018 - Dark, ruby red with a light ring around the edge. Decanted for about 90 minutes; wine really started to open up after about 2 hours. Primary notes of plum on the nose, very spice-driven aromas as well (I got some clove). Tannins a bit lighter than what I had anticipated, in a good way, a touch less acidic than what I'm accustomed to in terms of Italian wine. Finish is very well-integrated, wine wasn't hot at all for a 15% ABV. Sipped nicely, also went well with fresh salumi, olives, and cheese. Should be in prime drinking window across the next 5 years.
