  January 5, 2018 - Deep, almost opaque, inky garnet red with purple on the rim. Medium intensity on the nose with black fruit, plumb, a tad pruny, some tea leaf, licorice, some mushroom notes and a hint of leather. Good acidity with medium + tannins that are a bit woody. Flavours of black cherry, tea leaf and currant - a bit tart. Some black pepper and mushroom notes but coming across a bit clunky and not well integrated. This is not a bad wine, but the palate falls short of the nose. It's very fruit forward but a bit tart and curt on the finish. Overall the fruit is not well balanced with the tannin and I'm not sure time in the cellar will resolve this.
