January 23, 2018 - every bottle of Modus 2007 is an experience and with the passing time this wine gets better and more complex maintaining its rich pleasantness made of red ripe fruit melt with juicy and truly enjoyable notes of smoke and oak, pencil, underwood. Probably reached its best now and will stay here foir two to four years, in my opinion.

1/23/18, 4:33 PM - Yes - isn't this is such an amazing, freakishly good wine? Never, ever nearly as good as this in any other vintage. Sadlly, there have been some very poor ratings lately (83-85 points) by other Cellar Tracker reviewers. Perhaps bad bottles (Ruffino makes A LOT of this), or maybe just poorly stored. Glad to see yours was as good as mine have been. Molti cari saluti! ;D

1/27/18, 4:39 AM - thank you Bam Man. It's curious how meny views my notes on Modus2007 have on Cellartracker (in excess of 7,000 my first). By the way, I am very curious about US / Californian wines but unfortunately it's hard to find them in Italy. I tasted some CabSauv (Insigna from Phelps in in my cellar) but I never had the chance to taste a Pinot Noir (Sideways film with Pail Giamatti made me very curious about). What is your opinion about? Ciao

1/30/18, 3:47 PM - Hello, OLRACX62 and thank you for your reply to my comment! Personally, I like Italian wine a lot more than California wine. The Pinot Noirs from California and Oregon are generally too sweet for my taste. I prefer New Zealand and of course Burgundy (but those aren't cheap!). And come to think of it, a good Nebbiolo can be better than almost any Pinot Noir - especially if it's paired with the right food. Ciao! ;D

If you like nebbiolo, you should try a bottle of nebbiolo from Valtellina (grapes are called chiavennasca in those lands of Lombardia), namely "Valtellina Superiore Riserva", and you'll find it more elegant and full of floral notes. Best winemakers are Ar.pe.pe (*****), Mamete Prevostini (****/*****) and - to a lesser extent - Nino Negri (***/****). Ciao
