  March 15, 2018 - I’m always cautious when pulling a cork on an older bottle such as this, but to my surprise it was in near-perfect condition, showing very little signs of seepage. The color is deep & dark brick red, showing some age around the edges. There is a pronounce oakiness in the nose, with hints of anise and tobacco. The tannins are remarkably firm, yet there is a great velvety quality in the mouthfeel. Cocoa and coffee, cradled in ripe black plum & black cherries, evolve through a long and luxurious finish. Drinking really nicely right now, with another three to five years of good life left before the decline sets in. One of Mondavi’s finest cabs!
