7/1/18, 4:53 PM - You must have tried a flawed one or perhaps just not your taste. All the tastings & pro reviews seem to think it's amazing so hopefully it was just a bad bottle. I'd be pretty pissed if i paid $100 for a tainted bottle though.

7/1/18, 5:05 PM - Bottle wasn't flawed or tainted but I can only comment on how it tasted at that moment in time on that day. The No 2 also showed similarly sourly. I'm in the happy position of having had this wine across a few vintages and it sometimes shows with a touch of un-ripeness though, on this occasion, it was a little too much for me.

As regards tastings and pro reviews? Well, taste is subjective and, with regard to wine, there are even more factors to consider than this. Have a look at the following - https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/jun/23/wine-tasting-junk-science-analysis

7/1/18, 7:00 PM - At least it's still very young so it has many years to develop and improve.

7/4/18, 7:30 PM - I’m not familiar with past vintages but this one seemed to me a very lean and bony style with a bit of a sour finish. However I still didn’t find it unripe and I liked it for all those reasons.

7/4/18, 8:22 PM - thanks for your comment, yeah, I must confess sourness in wine is probably something I find myself a little more sensitive to. cheers

7/5/18, 2:47 AM - This is one of the more expensive wines in my collection. I’m with Batcave, I would be annoyed spending that money on a below par wine. Unfortunately a lot of the time reviews is all you have to go on unless you are lucky enough to have a tasting. You win some, you lose some.

7/5/18, 6:04 PM - It is a conundrum but of the five reviews of this wine only mine is what could be described as negative. And there is always the fall back position of putting it up for auction :) cheers, chatters
