    Not sure what went wrong here! This was my contribution to the blind tasting, even going a bit over on the price range. This consistently scored low among the group, including myself. Maybe an off bottle? I had opened about 2 hrs prior to tasting to help it get a bit more air than the other bottles but it just came off as disjointed, alcoholic. Maybe my palate was tired? Anyway, not entirely sad to give away my last remaining bottle as the prize. I will give Myriad another try given the reputation for 2016.

    Edit: Primarily CS, with some Merlot and PV

    7/16/18, 4:04 PM - Thanks for the note, and I think you bring up a good perspective, putting Myriad in a blind tasting. I haven't done it yet, and love it's purity of fruit, plushness, and balance. Perhaps in a blind tasting it doesn't fare well? Hoping for an off bottle, but may have to put this in a blind tasting myself. I've given this bottle anywhere between a 91-93, FWIW. In December it was muted, alcoholic, and disjointed, much like you are describing. Other bottles have been much better. Hoping it was an off bottle, and please give them a try in 2016. I enjoyed the 2016 Napa Cab, despite it just being bottled a few days before I tasted it.

    7/16/18, 6:44 PM - Nice note - hopefully just an awkward/transition phase like I recently experienced with the 2015 Myriad G3 cab. FYI, the 2015 wasn’t 100% cab. Like the 2014 vintage there is some merlot and petit verdot.

    8/17/18, 7:27 PM - Badmonkey, this wine is drinking great now but the fact about the Merlot component is an interesting tidbit. I was detecting a slightly higher red fruit and floral component than I'm used to with Myriad and that explains it.

    8/17/18, 9:06 PM - I don't have a problem with the merlot component, however, I don't like how petit Verdot tends to finish - it tends to close/shut down the finish in my opinion. Nonetheless, quality fruit for those that don't mind it.

    8/17/18, 9:27 PM - I agree, I've been drinking the bottle for about 2 hrs now and I'm getting a little bitter, slightly astringent tanic finish which I would guess comes from the Petite Verdot. Is still good but I was wondering what was different this year. Which I had one more bottle of this NV Myriad to compare with the '16

    8/18/18, 11:24 AM - I tend to have the same experience. The 2012 & 2013 vintages were 100% cab but since 2014 it has been blended a little bit with merlot and petit verdot. Take care.
