July 24, 2018 - If this is in your cellar, you can open it now and it doesn’t need a lot of time to decant or breath.
The wine opens up pretty much straight away. It’s a powerful Zin with a creamy burnt caramel taste (not unpleasant). Medium bodied and medium colored. It’s a little bit acid in terms of balance. Raspberries and creme brûlée with a rhubarb crumble finish. Pretty good all up. Interesting without being exceptional.

7/25/18, 5:11 PM - By way of update, we finished off the second half of the bottle on the next day. It improved significantly which suggests others are right. Open it a good few hours before serving. It lost its acidity, it was smoother on the tongue, it developed smoke and deeper flavored fruits and overall the balance was better. I would bump the 85 up to 88 based on day 2. It will likely improve with age in the bottle.
