August 18, 2018 - Celebrated a milestone birthday this past weekend, which seemed as good a reason as any to pop one of these. I had already tasted the 2014 Bien Nacido syrah (which I think is a knockout) and Thompson syrah (also gorgeous), which are the components of this bottling. I didn't take detailed notes, but I think this is at least on par with the BN bottling, with perhaps a longer, more vanilla-laced finish as well as added dimension overall. I definitely recommend a careful decant, as there is a good amount of solids in suspension. Fantastic wine that already drinks beautifully, but it has a long future. It's probably better than my rating suggests. (95+)
