Community Tasting Note

October 4, 2018 - Inviting and agreeable, with a moderate sex appeal and soft porn-esque delivery. Overall, fairly smooth; less glycol after 2+ hours in the decanter. Notes of lemon curd, lemon verbena, vanilla, and clarified butter (in a good way - not buttery or over oaked).

Richer than Eastside, not as sexy as Lauren or CIX; somewhat straightforward, but tasty for sure. Round and plump without being fat or sluggish. Enough energy to push through the flavors across the entire front-to-back attack. Medium mid-palate weight. Medium complexity. A very well done wine, if not just a bit less concentrated or intense as its other siblings.

Drink now and over the next couple of years.

10/6/18, 8:16 AM - One of the things that makes Aubert so interesting for me is that his single vineyard wines are all well made, but there are striking differences from site to site as you have pointed out in many of your tasting notes. Always fun to compare them to each other. I enjoy reading your tasting notes! Thanks! Some friends, my son and I did a comparative tasting a little more than a year ago and it was one of the more enlightening and fun blind tastings that we have done.

Over the years I've certainly noticed characteristics of the particular sites. As with any wine, the characteristics aren't consistent 100% across the board, but it's nice to be able to generally pick an Aubert wine depending on my mood (CIX for more unctuousness; Lauren for silky; Eastside for more Burgundian; Hudson for a rounder Cali Chard standard; etc). They do their Chards up right for sure!

6/5/22, 12:37 PM - Nice! Aubert certainly has that sweet spot where more of its sweet oak integrates, becomes less saccharine-covered, and the purity of fruit (ripe as it can be) starts to become even more luxurious. Glad it performed! Seems like you hit it in a sweet spot for sure!
