October 20, 2018 - Wine Spectator newbies; 10/18/2018-10/20/2018 (Marriott Marquis): We had an impression that there was something just a touch off on this wine and seeing the notes I'm more sure of it. Not a full out corked situation, but one where the flavors are all more muted than they should be. Maybe some tomato paste. Still get the tannin. But less expressive than I'd have expected.

7/23/21, 6:51 AM - Your review fills me with optimism. 2004 is an excellent vintage where full phenolic ripeness was obtained in Montalcino. The wine should have been muted in 2018. Chances are you drank it at least ten years early. No disrespect at all, and hats off for knowing quality when you see it, but I have never been able to understand why Biondi Santi’s wines are drunk young. With age they embarrass 1st growth Bordeaux. I recently tasted a 1978, and there are no words, mythical beyond belief. I will wait at least another twenty years to taste my 2004’s with hopefully the same experience.
