October 23, 2018 - The 2011 'Tenuta Nuova' Brunello di Montalcino is another wonderful showing in 2011 and one of the top wines from the vintage. It opens with alluring aromas of ripe blackberries and dark currant woven together with both sweet and exotic spices, floral and hints of leather. This possesses a full, rich and velvety texture with remarkable balance of ripe fruit and acidity. It continues to impress with wonderful focus and depth as leads into the long, expansive finish. Today the wine is already very expressive, however it will ultimately be best with some short to mid-term cellaring. Year after year, Giacomo Neri along with his son Giovanni make an absolutely exceptional wine from Tenuta Nuova and the 2011 is another outstanding effort to add to the long list of great wines. (Best 2018-2030)
