November 11, 2018 - Pale ruby with medium minus optical density, an amber rim, and medium reflectivity. Nice and intense aromas of cherry, roses, tar, and balsamic, with some spicy forest floor and tobacco underlying. Medium bodied with refreshing acidity, and showing firm grip on the back end with is nice for cleaning the palate. Texture is fine and polished but with firm tannic bite on the finish. Flavours of bright cherries and other red fruits on the attack. Simple and straightforward, but delicious. The midpalate picks up some savory spices on top of the fruit along with balsamic notes, before turning to a finish with green olive and light tobacco smoke. Good length and intensity on the finish.

Quite pleasant overall, with excellent intensity. Complexity is not amazing here, which creates a bit of a lack of depth perhaps, but still, a solid tasting wine. Definitely a bargain Barolo, with all of the characteristics, so provides great value wine. Old world in style for the most part. Only missing some depth and complexity, but a really great wine to have around, with nice and intense red fruits, fresh acidity, and a very typical profile for Barolo. Seems like there is plenty of aging potential left here- although not drinking bad at the moment, some additional cellaring probably won't hurt.
