November 7, 2018 - 2018 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium – Kelly, RJ, Justin and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/7/2018-11/11/2018 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Based on this particular bottle, the 09 DP seems to gain weight. Expressive nose displaying ripe yellow citrus fruit, lemon curd, also apple, brioche, roasted almond, honeycomb, ginger, smoke and limestone. Excellent concentration, generous fine mousse, nicely layered sweet yellow fruit, rich and creamy, bright acidity, strong mineral and a long sweet yellow fruit and smoke driven finish. Drinking beautifully in a very youthful way. Although I love young DPs, most people find them difficult to appreciate/enjoy. Just like how the opinions have changed favorably for the 02 with age, I am confident that this will also improve in another five to ten years. Very promising.
