November 11, 2018 - Catching up with Axel (Freds, Oxford Street, Sydney): Initially I thought my LB Hoodoo was continuing. This was decanted for about 90 minutes. On the nose blackcurrant, cassis, savoury, cedar, spicy and a little smoky. Juicy, savoury but still with plenty of black fruit, lashings of tannins that are drying but, for me, it's a little flat. I'm goo pull out a 2010 and see how it is to see if my 'young' hypothesis is correct...After about three hours, though, the wine grows with masses of wild blackcurrant and cream and cassis coming to the fore backed by brambles, leather and spice. The tannins are still grippy but less drying. Bit more yum. Note to self - 3 hour decant!

11/19/18, 12:07 AM - Ah, no; the Lynch Bages was on their list. We made the decision to have it very early in the lunch and asked them to decant it straight away...then after the preposterous lunch we went to Axel's place via my cellar...cheers, chatters
Oh, it was a very long lunch...
