  December 9, 2018 - Dulcie produced some kind of pot roast so I thought about a nice juicy red to accompany and pulled out one of the Mavens pinots, figuring it might do the trick. Perhaps not the ideal pairing but I think it worked quite well. Lush purplish red color, warm fruit-driven nose; on the palate quintessential Cali pinot with abundant layers of lush ripe black cherry fruit. Quite crushable.

  12/18/18, 6:02 AM - Certainly: Mavens and Aficionados (to give its full name) is a wine club associated with the Chicago steak house Maple and Ash. In addition to providing quarterly selections of wine, of which this was one, Mavens has been holding wine "classes" that have recently focused on Bordeaux and Burgundy. Good fun.
