December 24, 2018 - Early Christmas at my parents. Wow, what a big/brooding cab. Dark purple fruit - primarily blackberry and black currants with a little dark cherry and blueberry. Really smooth coupled with nice depth/concentration and a beautiful purity. Nice vibrant/full flavors of dark berries, some spice/licorice, and a mineral/graphite component. Long finish. Decanted for two hours and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but drinking quite well after the decant despite its youth. So good now but another year or two should be beneficial to let the fruit soften/open-up a little more. Probably the best wine that I’ve had - no surprise of the 100 rating from WA. WA anticipated maturity 2022 to 2054. In addition, the Winery recommends giving their 2016 Beckstoffer cabs around 5 years from the vintage date if drinking young so 2021 which makes sense.

12/24/18, 4:57 PM - Great note! Interesting that you scored the Las Piedras higher than the OG. CT seems to like the OG better, yet the winery suggested the Las Piedras might be better over time. I ordered several bottles of each but I’ve yet to try either wine. Your notes are really tempting me to try each of the two very soon. Looks like I can’t go wrong with either wine.

12/25/18, 5:34 AM - TXRDW, they're both great wines - no surprise of the 99 and 100 ratings from WA. I can't argue anyone picking the OG over the La Verdad, however, the fruit of the La Verdad is a little bigger/fuller and also darker which I preferred. If trying now definitely give them a long decant. Take care.
