Community Tasting Note

  • CheviotCellar Likes this wine: 88 points

January 27, 2019 - Pours deep garnet, brown tones show age. Nose has red cassis, stewed strawberry, chocolate, cigarette smoke, and sandalwood. Palate has red rich currant, plum, eucalyptus, light tannins, medium-light acidity. Decent finish. Slight metallic note that drops this down from a 90. Finely mature bordeaux at a great price: 88.5-89. No rush, 2-5 years left.

6/8/19, 1:38 PM - Was wondering whether you know if the wine you drank had been stored real well. I have picked up some of this wine twice, from auction, and was thoroughly impressed. (I still have over a case left in 750's. All purchased from sprectrum auctions, imported by Jeffrey Davies selections of buffalo grove, IL) Your descriptions match my experiences although the edge of the glasses are showing more brick than brown, and thankfully no metalic flavors allowing me to rank this at about a 91-. My bottles have all shown plenty of sediment crusting on the glass demonstrating little filtration. Although I am a left bank guy I must admit that I adore this wine, especially since I got it for a little under 20 bucks and drinks (IMHO) like it was triple the price. I will get around to posting a review one day, but I am drinking it at this very moment and thought it was best to post a comment to share some wine knowledge.

6/10/19, 6:00 PM - I suspect my bottle was not as well kept as your bottles. I only purchased it in January from a retail store where it had been on the shelf for an unknown amount of time. For a decade old bordeaux with these qualities and modest price, I agree this is a very good value.
