Community Tasting Note

    February 1, 2019 - Popped and decanted. Left for about 60 minutes before tasting.

    Deep dark crimson. Seems unfiltered. Pretty rich looking.

    Very complex nose. Candied red fruit of Jolly Rancher variety. Earthy/sappy. Spice as well.

    Palate matches nose well. Tiny bit pseudosweet due to a touch of vanilla. Brininess and salinity and a touch of smoke. Touch of slatey mineral. Clean acidic finish. Over time a black licorice note came out.

    It's complex and interesting, but it has a couple of notes neither N nor I really like (sap, vanilla). I respect this wine for being well-crafted, but it just doesn't resonate with me personally enough for me to give it a very high score. Of course, your mileage may vary.
