February 14, 2019 - For a 32 year old wine, the color in the glass is beautiful. Ruby red with some light coppering toward the bowl. Crushed cherry, graphite, dried basil and paprika on the nose. There is a bit of a smoked meat note as well. It is a very classic nose. On the palate, mouth-drying tannins are present, with some minerality and more graphite and chalk. There is still a TON of power left in the glass. The finish is very, very long. This wine feels unbelievably young and could use more time for the tannins to relax. Absolutely a food wine.
