February 19, 2019 - From a case we purchased on release, we found this bottle in the cellar with a note to open after 2005. The cork disintegrated trying to open and we poured through a strainer. Very dark purple on the pour, nose was a pleasant aged cabernet. Initially separated tannins, tasted like an 81 Trotanoy we had in our collection, strong licorice and briar, almost unpleasant, flavor. After about 45 minutes, the palate became more complex, still licorice, with blackberry, pepper and a hint of brown sugar, and the tannins merged with the fruit. On its way to a low score, time proved that it remains an enjoyable wine.
