February 22, 2019 - Deep purplish red with high optical density and medium plus reflectivity. The nose shows bramble, mixed dark berries, plum, and some spicy mushroom, along with some light aromatic florals. Full bodied and with medium acidity on the palate, the texture is polished and shows light to medium tannins with a fine-grained character. Density is medium with a not so concentrated feel, but still a fullness; no over-extraction here! Flavours of red berries and plum on the attack, with excellent intensity and an elegant profile. The midpalate stays with fruit, but adds some spices and oak flavours. The finish is medium length and shows tangy tobacco and light pepper.

Nice intensity and decent complexity. Not a ton of depth, but more than just a surface wine here. Delicious and easy to drink, and with increasing interest with some time in the glass. Shows a very nice balance and elegance for Zinfandel. Not at all over the top, this is a controlled style of wine that is really great. Drinking very well right now, with freshness and zest. While complexity is not huge, it is interesting for sure. Restrained but still a juicy drink, this is easy-going and great for many situations. Probably over-priced, at least in my market, but a generally fun wine that is certainly worth experiencing. Fun, easy-going factor alone earns the 90 here, as this makes up for any lack of depth and complexity, at least for me!
