March 2, 2019 - Dark garnet in color with bricking & clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of strawberries, currants & dried figs/raisins with overtones of earthy/loam notes, some tobacco/leather, spices, minerals, smoky & a hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of strawberries, currants & dried figs with spices, herbs, minerals & a touch of cedar. Lingering dry finish. Drinks well at present but is most likely at or past its peak of development at over 40 years of age, so drink up! A remarkably different style than its modern version. The cork was clean & intact; fill was in the lower portion of the neck above the shoulder; & considerable sediment adhering to the bottle.
