Darker colour with a deep red colour and just enough small bubbles too keep this fresh. It took some time in the glass before it really started singing, what a wonderful journey with blackcurrants, dark chocolate, hyacinths and blackcurrant leaves in a wonderful combination. Palate is smooth and fresh and dominated by blackcurrant in a way I haven’t seen in a champagne before. Mid shows a nice mature red apples fruitiness before the long and intense finish really showing off the maturity in a nice and positive way. With time in the glass it opens up with butterscotch both on the nose and on the long lasting silky smooth finish, just to give an extra punch to the already lovely mature bottle. This was surprisingly good and nothing I expected when pulling the cork.. Excellent!730 views
