May 12, 2019 - Have only had Uruguayan Tannat once before - several years ago in Montevideo. This reminded me of how good the New World version of this varietal can be. Surprisingly approachable for one so young. There's plenty of tangy, delicious blackberry, plum and dark currant fruit here, with very good depth and intensity. Subtle hints of mocha, smoke and mineral chime in on the mouth-puckering finish, with tannins providing plenty of grip at the very end. Fruitier, more complex and far less tannic than a Madiran. An interesting and delicious expression of Tannat.
