June 20, 2019 - The 1961 Grand Puy Lacoste is a wonderful example of mature GPL, full of ripe, mellow, sweet blackcurrant. It's that 61 sweetness that really gives the nose such plush allure. Pencil, leather, and loam round out the nose and though there's a little bit of old oak starting to show through on the palate, this is a lovely drink. To drink now rather than to hold, unless in large format. Best with 30 minutes of air. Very high shoulder fill. With Emeline Borie.
