June 23, 2019 - Small yield/ production from vines that have been stressed. The color is intensely dark and as with all of the Carters for 2017, the nose is fantastic. On the palate, intense dark ripe black and blueberry fruit, dark fruits, clearly these vines had to work with the end results that are fantastic, flavorful, just amazing. This wine like most of the lineup is big with smooth tannins, nuance, balanced and delicious.
    97+ Points.

6/24/19, 8:59 AM - Nice notes on the 2017 Carter cabs. I'm surprised they're showing this well for you at this really youthful stage. I tasted the 2016 vintage around this time last year and I thought they were all really tightly coiled on day one. They had bottles of the 2016 Weitz and La Bam that were fully opened the day before and they clearly showed the best on their second day. I already bought a decent allocation of the 2017 OG and La Verdad since they are likely to sell-out early but I haven't bought any of the others yet. I'll probably start picking-up some of the others soon. Take care.

6/24/19, 11:57 AM - Well, all of these wines will benefit from bottle age, but I find it amazing how well this lineup shows so early. Clearly, not everyone is as enthused as I may be about these 2017 Carter's, but I felt that they did not disappoint. Will you be visiting Napa this year for a tasting?

6/24/19, 6:28 PM - I’ve always respected your thoughts so great to hear. I didn’t make plans to make a visit yet in light of the questionable 2017 vintage. WA ratings overall are still a little underwhelming - it appears that Mike might of been one of the few winemakers that avoided the weather difficulties.

7/11/19, 4:39 PM - fastcar888 I'm certain that you won't be disappointed. I would say the 2017 Carter line up showing really well. Although they are young and clearly need bottle time, this line up is without question, a winner. As I have stated in my previous notes, I anticipated going into the 2017 vintage thinking that I would not invest too heavily in it because of the year and potential smoke taint detection. Carter Cabernet's have no issues at all. I think everyone will to be impressed with the extraction and energy these wines show. Enjoy!
