August 4, 2019 - The Cuvée 1809 from Coutelas is composed of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir from vines over 40 years old. It is vinified in oak without malolactic fermentation and is aged for over eight years on the lees, on a cork, not a crown cap. 6g/L dosage.
Color - translucent golden straw
Nose - mature. mushroom, wet earth, bruised apple, lemon and slate
Palate - green apple, salted lemon, mushroom, hint of thyme, good minerality. Medium body, medium plus acid, medium plus finish.
A real treat. Tastes pretty old, so I wouldn't age this further. Ready to pop and pour for anyone who enjoys earthy, dry Champagne.5,070 views
